The Brazilian star Issues Apology to Los Blancos Devotees

Vinicius Jr in action

The attacker has netted five finishes in 10 domestic competition matches during the current campaign.

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to fans for his conduct when replaced in Sunday's intense El Clasico triumph.

Vinicius was taken off in the 72nd min and expressed his frustration by heading directly to the dressing room.

Vinicius later returned to the sidelines and, after his side's narrow triumph, tried to confront Barcelona's youngster Yamal during contentious after the game incidents.

"Today I want to say sorry to all the Real Madrid fans for my behavior when I was taken off in the big match," Vinicius wrote on social media.

"Just as I have previously expressed during today's practice, I wish to say sorry once more to my colleagues, the club, and the club president.

"Sometimes emotion takes over me because I continuously aim to win and support my team. My winning mentality comes from the affection I have for this club and everything it symbolizes."

Vinicius signed for Madrid from Flamengo in recent years for £38.7m and has notched over a century of strikes in 335 appearances.

But his prospects in the La Liga is uncertain with speculation in the past few months indicating that Los Blancos would consider allowing the 25-year-old move on if they obtained a suitable offer.

When he was replaced on that day, broadcast footage from coverage provider Dazn picked him up remarking: "Again me! I'm leaving the team! It's wiser if I go, I'm moving on."

In his most recent post on the platform, he said: "I promise to keep striving constantly for the benefit of the club, as I have performed since the first day."
